Senior Research Recruitment

The University recognises the need for Research Centres to be in a position to recruit senior research staff in as expeditious a manner as possible while adhering to best practice methods of recruitment and selection and in compliance with legislation. 

As holders of the HR Excellence in Research Award the University is formally acknowledged as adhering to the Charter and Code of the EC HR Strategy for Researchers.  Through open and transparent advertising and recruitment we contribute to the attractiveness of UCC's research infrastructure and to the attractiveness of the European Research Area and uphold the principles of the Charter and Code.

People & Culture- Research(P&C Research) will assist and advise staff and PI's in Colleges, Research Centres, Institutes and Units in managing the recruitment of Senior Research Staff.

Steps:

  1. PF4 signed by PI/and Head of School and/or Head of College/Head of Research Unit forwarded to P&C Research(hrresearchqueries@ucc.iePF4 Senior Research Roles
  2. Approval for post sought from HR Business Manager-Research and Vice President for Research and Innovation by P&C Research
  3. Candidate Information Pack (CIP) and Advert drafted by the Hiring Unit/PI and returned to the HR Advisor carol.odwyer@ucc.ie 
  4. Committee identified and contacted by local unit to agree to serve.
  5. Once agreement to serve confirmed - committee contacted by HR Advisor and CIP/Advert circulated for comment. 
  6. Job advertised on UCC website by P&C Research.
  7. Hiring Unit will manage shortlist, interview and post administration having regard for university regulations
