‘Language-Shift in Nineteenth-Century Ireland: A New Interpretation’, Seminar Room, Tyrconnell, at 12noon, next Monday, 20th October
Dr Aidan Doyle will present a paper: ‘Language-Shift in Nineteenth-Century Ireland: A New Interpretation’.
Dr Doyle lectures in Nua Ghaeilge at UCC. He teaches modules on phonetics, the social and cultural history of Irish, academic writing (MA), and practical language classes. His main area of research is general linguistics, with a special emphasis on morphology, syntax, language contact, and historical linguistics. He is also interested in translation theory and the relation between language and identity.
The seminar will be held in the Seminar Room, Tyrconnell, at 12noon, next Monday, 20th October. Tyronnell is located on Perrot Avenue, leading to Hayfield Manor. The building is at the corner of the cul-de-sac immediately before the entrance to Hayfield Manor.
