Power of Language

From the freak shows of the early 16oo’s that exhibited biological deformities, people with disabilities have been thrust to the sidelines of society and citizenship.

The "Power of Language" is a 20-minute audio documentary presented and researched by Sarah Harrington and produced by Kathy O' Hare which emphasizes the importance of equality and inclusivity, and aims to create a stronger sense of awareness around issues disability and impairment.

"The Power of Language" is part of a broader project that Sarah and Kathy produced in partnership with Cork Centre for Independent Living (CIL) and 93.1 LifeFM called "Access n' Attitudes" which is 4 x30 minute documentary series due to broadcast on 93.1 LifeFM every Thursday for 4 weeks at 15:05 from 7th - 28th March.  Programme 1: Defining Disability will air on Thursday the 7th of March at15:05 (Repeated Saturday 9th at 17:05)
