Live on Friday:
Sanctuary Runners
The Sanctuary Runners enable Irish residents to run alongside, and in solidarity with, asylum seekers and refugees in Direct Provision thereby fostering friendship, positivity and respect while bringing greater awareness to the migration system. A non-profit, and multi-award-winning movement they use running to build sustainable bridges between communities and to show that we are all equal.
The Sanctuary Runners was established in Cork in February, 2018 by former feature writer and broadcaster Graham Clifford. With the support of Cork City Council, and The Tomar Trust, hundreds of runners have taken to the roads in the now famous blue shirts. Sanctuary Runners welcome all abilities of walkers, joggers and runners to join them to run alongside friends in Solidarity, Friendship, and Respect.
We look forward to joining the wonderful UCC Fáilte Refugees Society in a community walk/run starting in the Honan Plaza, UCC on Saturday, the 26th of Feb at midday. While running and walking, you can learn more about the Sanctuary Runners and meet new friends as we wrap up what promises to be a very successful UCC Refugee Week 2022
