New Pedestrian Footbridge to Link Merchant's Quay and Patrick's Quay

Cork City Council's project to build a new €3.5m footbridge to link Merchant's Quay and Patrick's Quay at Harley Street is one of several projects submitted to the Designated Urban Centres Grant Scheme for part funding.
The new footbridge is part of Cork’s City Movement Strategy with the aim of pedestrianising Patrick’s Street and eliminating the one way system on Mac Curtain Street. Other projects submitted by Cork City Council to the funding scheme include renovations of the Shandon Butter Exchange and the Lido in Blackpool, and the cottages inside Elizabeth Fort on the southside. A further proposal, the Cork Harbour Greenway will extend link the existing cycle path from Blackrock to Rochestown to Carrigaline by extending it a further 15 km.
