Second Year Civil Engineer for Sailing World Cup in Miami

Fionn Lyden is a student in second year Civil, Structural & Environmental Engineering. Thanks to his UCC Quercus Scholarship he is able to combine his studies with his participation in the ISAF Sailing World Cup in Miami in January 2016.
The ISAF Sailling World Cup is a world ranking event, which is critical in the build-up to the next Olympics. Quercus is a UCC programme designed to encourage talented sportspeople to achieve their highest potential both in the sporting arena and in the academic sphere.
Olympic hopeful Fionn, a native of Baltimore, Co. Cork, combines his Civil, Structural & Environmental Engineering studies at UCC with a demanding schedule of training and events for his other passion, sailing. Fionn won a gold medal at the 2013 Italian Europa Cup and hopes to replicate this success in Miami.
Fionn is featured in the UCC Quercus Scholarship video, available on the Civil, Structural & Environmental Engineering videos page.
