Key indicator shows continued growth in construction industry in 2015
Newly-released data on forward purchasing activity in the construction industry shows a strong increase during the second quarter of 2015. The monthly purchasing managers' index (PMI), compiled by Ulster Bank, has now increased for 20 consecutive months.
All the sub-sectors of the index showed growth in April 2015: Commercial, Housing and Civil Engineering such as infrastructure. Staffing in the sector also continued to increase, with an acceleration in jobs growth seen in April. Subcontracting prices were also seen to rise, indicative of increased demand in the sector.
