Four New Schools in First Tranche of €1.4bn PPP Stimulus

New schools in Cos. Louth, Clare, Tipperary and Cork are the first projects to be approved under the government's €1.4bn stimulus package.
The Irish Times reported today that the schools will be built under a public-private partnership (PPP) by BAM Construction. Under the terms of the PPP agreement, the maintenance of the schools for the first 25 years is included as part of the programme. The stimulus package also includes medical and third-level education facilities, and will lead to the creation of thousands of jobs in the construction and infrastructure sector.
