CAO reports strong rise in architecture, engineering, construction applications

The Central Applications Office for Irish third-level courses has reported strong increases in applications for programmes in the built environment sector (up 20 per cent), engineering and technology ( up 7 per cent), and architecture (up 6 per cent).
These increases come on top of strong demand for Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering courses in 2015. The economic recovery is increasing demand for Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineers, and top employers are competing to hire graduates in these areas. Industry sources hope that the increase in applications is will relieve the current skills shortages in the sector.
Applications for 2017 admission to UCC's Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering Honours degree will open in January 2017 via www.cao.ie
