House of STEM has teamed up with Pride in STEM, InterEngineering, and Out in STEM to organise the first ever International Day of LGBT+ People in STEM, this Thursday 5th July. There are events and get-togethers happening all around the world, and the initiative is supportedby dozens of scientific organisations, including CERN, Science Gallery, the Euqopean Space Agency, Wellcome, and Science Founation Ireland.
There are lots of way you can get involved:
Follow #LGBTSTEMDay on Twitter, where people will be sharing their experiences of being LGBT+ in STEM. Share your own stories, have conversations, make LGBT+ science friends from all around the world!
Make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, and meet us on Twitter from 11 am to 12 noon on Thursday at#HouseofSTEMcuppa. It's basically a House of STEM tea break that anyone can join.
The fantastic LGBT+ Staff Network at NUI, Galway are organising a day of #LGBTSTEMDay events: A coffee morning (10:00-11:00, Human Biology Building), an LGBTSTEMinar (12:30-15:00, register here), and a Galway Pride Table Quiz (20:00-22:30, city centre). Follow them on Twitter for updates.
We're making a crowd-sourced #LGBTSTEMDay audio documentary. Take part by recording a short clip of yourself or a friend, following the steps to the left, and send the clip to lgbtstemday@gmail.com
You can buy official #LGBTSTEMDay t-shirts and mugs featuring the logo designed byTwisted Doodles on the House of STEM Redbubble store. All proceeds go towards building a really nice #LGBTSTEMDay website.
