Ciarán Delaney, a graduate of ACE at UCC has been elected as a Vice President of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, the world leading professional body for health and safety professionals, which has over 47,000 members in over 130 countries. He is also an Ambassador for a Northern Ireland charity, the NOW group which supports people with invisible disabilities, whose service users developed the JAM card, which asks people to give them Just A Minute.

Talent Management in Family Business Roadshow UCC was delighted to partner with the DCU Family Business Centre to present the Cork leg of the 'Talent in Family Business Roadshow' in the Kingsley Hotel on 8 June, 2016. James O'Sullivan of well-known family business M&P O'Sullivan was the guest local family business. PWC presented findings of their global next generation survey, while AIB provided insights on the topic of succession. Key challenges in relation to talent management and communication were discussed.

ACE hosted the Free University lecture series as part of UCC’s contribution to the Cork Lifelong Learning Festival 2014. The week-long series was held on campus in W9 and attracted excellent attendance from the general public and UCC staff members — all lectures were given pro bono by UCC staff.

This innovative course is designed to introduce you to the different ways in which people on the autistic spectrum experience the world. The historical and social practices that enabled autism to be identified from the early twentieth century are explored. There will be an emphasis on the communication and behavioural challenges for the individual with autism and how society responds to these challenges and also how a person with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) may contribute positively to society. The issue of mental health and ASD will be examined. You will learn the importance of early intervention, education and inclusion, and legislation and policies that govern best practice guidelines and models of service.
