This genealogy summer school offered a complete course in the latest Irish genealogy research at UCC in 2014.  All aspects of the subject were covered by a series of presentations and ‘hands on’ workshops given by a selection of Ireland’s leading genealogical lecturers and experts. 

This genealogy summer school offered a complete course in the latest Irish genealogy research at UCC in 2014. All aspects of the subject were covered by a series of presentations and ‘hands on’ workshops given by a selection of Ireland’s leading genealogical lecturers and experts. Eileen & Sean O'Duill, Brian Donovan & Fiona Fitzsimons, Dr Paul MacCotter to name but a few.The latest online and offline sources were described and explained in presentations and delegates attended from all over the Worlds, US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada Germany, The Netherlands, UK and Ireland.

The 'hands on' workshops given by a selection of Ireland's leading genealogical lecturers and experts, Ann Marie Coghlan, Dr Jane Lyons and John Nangle at Youghal, Dungarvan and West Waterford were particularly successful with a culminating visit to Dromana House.

Genealogy sources, and approaches are described and explained in presentations which will be of great interest to the seeker of Irish roots and family history. It is suitable for genealogy enthusiasts. Not forgetting, optional evening tours to sites of interest in Cork itself, ‘the Venice of Ireland’, and the beautiful harbour town of Kinsale.

The school gave over 40 classes and 3 fieldtrips, had 52 participants. Lorna Moloney is the coordinator of the school and is a full member of the Association of Professional Genealogists since 2011.
