The International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated annually on 11 February, highlights ongoing global efforts to achieve full and equal access to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education and careers.

Teams of secondary school students from across Munster gathered at University College Cork (UCC) on 24 January, to compete in the regional finals of the FIRST® LEGO® League, a global STEM challenge celebrating innovation, creativity, and teamwork.

The TRANSLATE project, an ambitious initiative dedicated to transforming waste heat into clean, usable power, has reached a significant milestone as it concludes its research phase, which ran from June 2021 to November 2025.

Climate change has a wide range of effects on wildlife. It affects seasonal migration, reproduction times, body size and mass, and disrupts ecological processes, thereby posing challenges for the populations of some species.

The SEFS–Tyndall New Connections Showcase 2026 took place at the Tyndall National Institute recently, bringing together researchers from across the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science (SEFS) and Tyndall to share ideas and spark future collaborations.

Kevin Martin, PhD student at UCC's School of Engineering and Architecture and Tyndall National Institute, has been awarded the 2025 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (APS) Fellowship.
