MRes Boole Fellowship in Mathematical Sciences 2024/25: Now Open for Applications

The School of Mathematical Sciences, UCC is delighted to announce the opening of the 2024_25 MRes Boole Fellowship in Mathematical Sciences for applications. Now in its second year of operation, the scheme is a one-year research fellowship, and it offers the opportunity to those who have completed an undergraduate degree programme the chance to develop a research proposal that addresses new and emerging fields of research in mathematical sciences.
- A stipend of €18,500 fixed 1-year duration (Rate linked to IRC rates)
- A contribution to fees, including non-EU fees, up to a maximum of UCC EU listed rates
- Eligible research expenses up to €1000
- Office space in the School Research Labs
The Fellows will also become part of a dynamic research community in the School with opportunities to collaborate and network with staff across its three disciplines of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Statistics.
Launching the 2024_25 scheme, the Head of School, Dr Kevin Hayes said, ‘We are interested in applications from students from across all disciplines. Mathematical sciences is about problem solving and can be applied to a wide range of industries and scenarios. Through this Fellowship, students will have an experienced supervisory team who will guide them through their research providing hands on advice along the way. ’
The Head of the Graduate Studies Committee in the School, Dr Supratik Roy added, ‘Mathematical sciences is a versatile subject made up of a variety of disciplines. The advantage of this Fellowship is that it provides endless opportunities as research is not limited to one field of study. Rather, it can be used to increase student’s knowledge and skills in problem solving applicable across a range of areas, providing a sound foundation for a career in industry or to progression to a PhD.’
