Internet Pioneer Dr Radia Perlman visits UCC

The SFI Centre for Research Training in Advanced Networks for Sustainable Societies (ADVANCE CRT), with the support of Prof Cormac J. Sreenan, recently welcomed Dr Radia Perlman to University College Cork.
Dr Perlman was accompanied by representatives from DELL Technologies, and delivered a seminar on the impact of quantum computers on cryptography. She spoke about the potential implications of quantum mechanisms on public key algorithms and current cybersecurity strategies, providing valuable insights into the future of these fields.
As a DELL Technologies Fellow and member of the Internet Hall of Fame, Dr Perlman is a pioneering figure in the domain of computer science, advanced communications and networking. She is best known for her groundbreaking work in the development of the Internet, which includes the invention of the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP).
