Future Professional Skills Showcase 2023

The SFI Centre for Research Training in Artificial Intelligence (CRT in AI) and SFI Centre for Research Training in Advanced Networks for Sustainable Societies (ADVANCE CRT) jointly organised the Future Professional Skills Showcase 2023 in Dublin recently.
Over 15 industry partners and more than 200 participants attended the event. The conference is aimed at equipping PhD researchers in SFI Centres for Research Training (CRT) with the skills required to be work-ready after graduation.
A range of focused activities were designed for PhD students to enable them to connect with industry partners. The event also provided industry partners with the opportunity to inform researchers of the current needs, skills, competencies and knowledge base that are required in their sector.
A host of activities to support PhD researchers to better understand the tech sector in Ireland took place over the course of two days.
Speakers included Elaine Burke, host of For Tech’s Sake podcast and formerly Editor of Silicon Republic, Ruth Williams, Principal Blockchain Analyst from BNY Mellon. A roundtable included participation from academia and industry - including BNYM London, Silicon Republic, Jaguar Land Rover, Meta, Maynooth University and Mastercard.
CRT in AI and ADVANCE CRT are two of the three Centres for Research Training funded by Science Foundation Ireland based in UCC. They both will graduate 240+ PhD researchers in the upcoming years in the areas of Data and ICT Skills for the Future.
CRT in AI is focused on the development of AI solutions in domains such as, healthcare and medicine, biosciences, finance, AI forecasting, smart buildings, autonomous vehicles, manufacturing, AI robotics, agriculture, marine, food production, and accessible AI education for all. ADVANCE CRT is focused on advanced networking, Internet of Things, machine learning, cybersecurity and other digital technologies with applications in sustainable and assisted living and health.
