Physical appearance Base 625mm x 293mm x 92mm; H270mm; CoHsD 173. Patented 1881 Mahogany base; ebonite-covered coil; brass and ivory commutator; brass, ivory, and ebonite conductors. The later are on ebonite pillars with brass ball joints on top, eight brass contacts on base; ebonite knurled knob to adjust tension in the interruptor.
This induction coil or "spark coil is a type of electrical transformer used to produce high-voltage pulses from a low-voltage direct current (DC) supply.
