Congratulations to our International Medicine Graduands!

It was a delight to welcome our International Medicine Graduands and their families to the Aula Maxima in UCC on Thursday 30th May.
Pre-Graduation Reception for 2024 International Medicine Graduands
The College of Medicine and Health, and the School of Medicine UCC, enjoyed meeting some of our International Graduands at our reception in the Aula Maxima, with 13 Nationalities represented from across the globe - Canada, US, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, India, Brunei, UAE, Australia, Lebanon and China.
For many families, it was their first visit to UCC and to Cork, and it was a pleasure to welcome them to our beautiful, historic campus.
Staff members from the School of Medicine, Prof John Higgins, CEO of the South/South West Hospital Group, and Prof David Kerins, Clinical Director at MUH, also attended the reception to say goodbye to students that they had come to know well in the course of their studies.
Prof Stephen Byrne, Deputy President & Registrar UCC, and Prof Paula O'Leary, Dean of the School of Medicine UCC, spoke about UCC's rich heritage in teaching medicine.
Since 1849, the School of Medicine at University College Cork has taught the art and science of Medicine to students from all over the world. Both speakers encouraged the granduands to be proud of their achievement in attaining their degree, to keep in touch with friends they have made here and to keep in contact with the School as their medical career progresses. Sincere thanks was expressed to staff in the School of Medicine who provide invaluable support to our international students.
We know a bright future beckons for this talented and dedicated group of young grauduands and we wish them well in the many adventures that lie ahead.
We look forward to seeing the impact they will undoubtedly have during a career as a medical professional.
