Art4Knowledge - free Art Therapy Workshop Series for people affected by cancer
Art4Knowledge is a free Art Therapy Workshop Series funded by the Health Research Board (HRB) and facilitated by the UCC Cancer Trials Group (UCCCTG) in collaboration with Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork.
It offers an Art Therapy intervention to patients with or beyond a cancer diagnosis, families or close friends of patients with/beyond cancer, and UCCCTG clinical trials teams.
Participants will be encouraged to reflect on and better understand their own experiences, perceptions, and feelings around receiving cancer care and participation in clinical trials (patients/families), and the provision of cancer care (clinical trials teams), which they will communicate to each other using creative media.
NO EXPERIENCE OR SKILL IN ART IS REQUIRED!
Art4Knowledge is the first Art Therapy intervention to include patients, families and clinical trials teams to facilitate communication and exchange of important, non-clinical knowledge to support all those involved in a cancer patient’s journey.
The value of art therapy in supporting patients and families on their cancer journey and in providing psychosocial benefits to clinical oncology staff who suffer high rates of stress and burnout is known.
This workshop series will use art media to encourage self-exploration and reflection and subsequent sharing of each other’s attitudes and perceptions, for mutual learning about cancer care experiences. For more information contact ltangney@ucc.ie.
Registration for the art therapy workshop series is now open to anyone who has been affected by cancer as a patient or close family/friend at eventbrite.com/e/art4knowledge-art-therapy-workshops-tickets-491597620717.
