The Travelling Surgical Society of Great Britain and Ireland visits UCC!
A wonderful day in association with The Mercy University Hospital and Cork University Hospital.
We were delighted to host the Travelling Surgical Society of Great Britain and Ireland on 23rd May in association with The Mercy University Hospital and Cork University Hospital.
Visiting surgeons from Ireland and across the UK toured our Medical School, the Anatomy Flame Lab, ASSERT Centre and were presented with a history of surgery at UCC and Cork hospitals from our Head of College Prof. Helen Whelton.
It was a wonderful day with excellent presentations from President of the Travelling Surgical Society, Prof. Linda de Cossart, Mr Ciaran Brady, Prof. Stephen Chadwick on UK Med in Turkey/Syria, Ukraine and Malawi, Mr Peadar Walsh, Mr David Evans and many others.
Throughout the day we were privileged to engage in many thought-provoking discussions on topics ranging from global surgery, to the evolution of the pelvic floor and artificial intelligence in surgery.
Thank you to Derek Hennessey and Graham Sunderland for organising this exceptional event and for inviting UCC Surgical Society and to all the inspiring surgeons who generously shared their lifelong advice and insights with us.

The academic meeting was an invaluable experience for all reinforcing the importance of collaboration, continuous learning.
