Applications are invited from suitably qualified members of staff for the above vacant permanent post.  

The successful candidate will provide services to the teaching and research activities of the Chemistry Department including: maintenance of chemical stocks and supplies, dispensing and internal distribution of solvents, chemicals and acids, drying of solvents, waste solvent/chemical management, supply of compressed gases and return of empty cylinders.S/He will also be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the stores operation and counter service including setting up and operation of an efficient IT system for stock management, ordering, internal distribution and charging of chemicals/solvents, Health & Safety databases etc.One of the requirements of the post will be the manual handling of heavy gas cylinders (ca. 50-100 Kg) and 50 gallon solvent drums (140-270Kg).   

Additional duties will be the provision of support services for teaching laboratories, including setting out equipment and glassware for student use and to provide a covering service for the glassware/apparatus stores.There may also be other duties assigned from time to time by the Head of Department or his nominee.   

Candidates will have NCEA Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Chemistry or a related area. Some knowledge of basic IT Skills is required as is previous experience in working with Chemicals.Some familiarity with Health and Safety Procedures is also a requirement of the post as is flexibility in work practices.

Salary scales:
€678.52 (Scale A) per week
€706.48 (Scale B) per week
