Senior Executive Assistant-Student Assistance Fund Co-ordinator, Finance Office/Access Office

Contract Post 1 November 2008 to 30 April 2009

Applications are invited for the above 6-month contract post, to commence as soon as possible on a 4 day week basis.  The nature of this post is fixed term as the resources which support the post are external funds.   

As part of an initiative to tackle educational disadvantage, an ESF aided Student Assistance Fund has been made available to UCC by the Department of Education and Science. UCC now wishes to appoint a Co-ordinator to take responsibility for the administration of the Fund. The range of duties include: 

  • Updating database for all applications
  • Running reports from database
  • Responding to queries from students and their parents
  • Preparation of documentation for the committee meetings
  • Organising committee meetings
  • Liaison with Accounts Payable & Fee Offices to arrange issue of cheques for students in a timely manner
  • Preparation of reports for the Department of Education & Science.
  • Maintain files of all records
  • Any other duties assigned by the Finance Officer

Candidates should have experience at Executive Assistant level and will have been appointed via the Executive Assistant panel.  The successful candidate will have experience of working in a busy office and have experience of customer service.  S/he must have practical experience in the following IT packages -WORD, EXCEL, ACCESS. 

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a pre-requisite for this role. The successful candidate must demonstrate a capacity to work to deadlines and to manage a variety of issues at the one time. Confidentiality is of utmost importance.

Salary:  (80% pro rata)

  • €28,848 - €42,391 (Scale A)     
  • €30,336 - €44,621 (Scale B)
