Project Manager, Institutional Repository Project (Fixed Term Contract)

Applications are invited for the fixed term post of Project Manager in UCC Library. This position has responsibility for establishing, managing and maintaining the University’s Institutional Repository. The commencement date for this post is the 20th October 2008, and the nature of the contract is fixed term as it is to cover maternity leave.  

This position has responsibility for establishing, managing and maintaining the University’s Institutional Repository (IR) which will provide centralized open access to the scholarship of University College Cork (such as research publications and theses) and preserve such resources for the future.  The Institutional Repository (IR) offers huge potential for increasing the visibility of UCC research through a publicly accessible website. 

Applicants for the post must be graduates and hold, or be about to obtain a recognised qualification in Library and Information Studies. The applicant must also have experience relevant to the operation and management of an Institutional Repository. A high level of competence in IT based applications, knowledge of library and/or other information environments and a high level of interpersonal and communication skills including customer services skills are also required.  The successful candidates will have the ability to work on their own initiative and in teams, influencing and responding to the changing information environment. 

Salary: within the range €41,243 - €51,254 depending on qualifications and experience.

This appointment may be made on a secondment basis with the agreement of the appointee’s current head of department.
