IT Support Technical Officer

IT Support Technical Officer for IRCSET International Center for Graduate Education in Micro- and Nano-Engineering, Department of Microelectronic Engineering

Applications are invited for an IT Technical Officer to support the activities for the IRCSET-funded International Centre for Graduate Education in Micro-and Nano-Engineering, which is funded by IRCSET & the Department of Education.  This is a  3.5 year fixed term position.

The successful candidate will be required to develop, maintain and support the centre’s website, to provide desktop support and assistance to centre members world-wide in porting educational learning material and postgraduate modules to the web, translate academic material to the web, install appropriate database servers and monitor back-ups of the Centre’s databases, carry out daily administration tasks, perform security analysis, document all internal centre systems and procedures, maintain computer hardware and software, work with other centre staff, and undertake other appropriate duties as assigned from time to time by the centre management.

The ideal candidate will hold a graduate degree in a cognate discipline. He/she will be highly motivated and proactive. Experience in administration of networks and relational databases are a prerequisite along with extensive programming skills. He/she will have proven experience in website and webpage design and development, along-with experience in maintenance of web-based educational material. Given the international membership of the centre, excellent interpersonal skills are required.

Salary scale (new entrants): €40,959 – 47,558 per annum
