FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE COORDINATOR, ADMISSIONS OFFICE

(Two-Year Wholetime Contract Post)

The First Year Experience Coordinator will support initiatives in the areas of student orientation and retention. The role of the post holder will be to coordinate effective orientation programmes for in-coming students and to provide an information and support service for registered students, particularly first years that may be at risk of not completing their programme of study and/or withdrawing from University.

The person appointed will be responsible for the planning and organisation of the University’s Orientation Programmes for undergraduate and postgraduatestudents in consultation with the relevant academic and administrative personnel; for the provision of an information and support service for registered students (particularly first years) who may be at risk of not completing their programme of study; and will conduct exit interviews with students considering withdrawal from University.

This is a two-year contract post commencing 1 July 2007.The First Year Experience Coordinator will report to the Admissions Officer or nominee.

Applicants should be a graduate or have equivalent experience and have a proven ability in dealing with students and student issues. A thorough knowledge of UCC processes and procedures is essential.Applicants should be able to demonstrate that they possess excellent organisational, communication and presentation skills.S/he must be capable of working on her/his own initiative and as part of a team.

Salary scale [new entrants]: €46,872 – €56,303, subject to grading.
In the event that such approval is not granted, appointment will be made within the range of the salary scale as approved by the Grading Committee.
