A postdoctoral position is available immediately, to work on a 2-year project on the development of embryonic stem cell-based therapies for Parkinson’s disease. The project is funded by the Health Research Board of Ireland.The position will be held in the Department of Anatomy/Neuroscience, BioSciences Institute, UCC.

The project will involve the genetic manipulation of an embryonic stem cell line to prevent tumour formation after transplantation in animal models of Parkinson’s disease. The successful applicant will have experience in molecular cloningtechniques, transfection and cell culture. In vivo experience would be desirable. Applicants should have a PhD in Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Physiology or a related discipline.

Salary within the range:€36,000 – €38,000 per annum.
