Postdoctoral Position and 2 PhD Studentships, Development Genetics Laboratory

Department of Biochemistry

3-Year Postdoctoral Position : A highly motivated individual is invited to apply for a Postdoctoral position in the area of biochemistry of the Ceacam (PSG) protein family, specifically related to integrin signalling. Remuneration is approx. €43,000 (incl. PRSI & Pension).

4-Year PhD Studentship: A highly motivated individual is invited to apply for a 4-year PhD Studentship in the area of developmental biology and gene targeting in the mouse. The first year will be spent at the University of Bath, UK, in a Marie Curie Regenerative Medicine Program. Stipend is €1 6 , 0 00 plus fees.

3-year PhD Studentship: A highly motivated individual is invited to apply for a 3-year PhD Studentship in the area of human molecular genetics and gene regulation. Stipend is €1 6 , 0 00 plus fees.
The project involves the genetic and molecular genetic analysis of the imprinted SPROUTY-3 (SPRY3) gene in the human Xq/Yq pseudoautosomal gene region, particularly in relation to its putative role in the causation of autism and other neurogenetic disorders. The project involves collaboration with neurogenetics groups in Trinity College Dublin and University of London, and with chromatin researchers in Tsinghua University, Beijing.

The successful applicants will join a laboratory with excellent facilities in the area of human genetics, genomics/proteomics , cell signalling, developmental biology and mouse transgenics (see www.ucc.ie/ucc/depts/biochemistry/staff/tmoore.html).

Informal enquiries, and letters of application (which should include applicant CV and names of two referees) should be sent to:

Dr. Tom Moore,
Dept. of Biochemistry, Biosciences Institute,
University College Cork,
