The Department of Education is committed to the lifelong professional development of educators, offering postgraduate courses appropriate to each stage of development. It offers undergraduate courses in Sports Studies and Physical Education and is the lead Department for an undergraduate course in Early Childhood Studies. It also has a research programme leading to MPhil and PhD in Education. The Department has a thriving research culture.

Applications are invited for the above whole-time permanent post. The successful candidate will have the ability to lead the health agenda within the programme, contributing to the areas of physical education and sports coaching science. An understanding of the Irish educational context is required as well as the ability to connect and work with the education and health communities. S/he will hold a PhD in Health, Physical Education or a cognate area, or evidence of significant progress towards a PhD.  Evidence of a personal contribution and commitment to excellence in both teaching and research is required

Salary scale [new entrants]: €35,610 - €57,847 Bar €63,389 - €83,504. Appointment on the relevant scale will be made commensurate with qualifications and experience
