The Department of Education is committed to the lifelong professional development of educators, offering postgraduate courses appropriate to each stage of development.  It offers undergraduate courses in Sports Studies and Physical Education and is the lead Department for an undergraduate course in Early Childhood Studies. It also has a research programme leading to MPhil and PhD in Education. The Department has a thriving research culture.

Applications are invited for the above permanent whole-time post. Reporting to the Head of Department, the successful candidate will contribute to the programmes of the Department specifically in relation to the Post-Graduate Diploma in Education and the taught Masters and PhD research programmes. S/he will be expected to engage actively in educational research and work collaboratively on Departmental research projects. S/he will hold a PhD in Education or a cognate area, or show evidence of significant progress towards a PhD. 

Salary scale [new entrants]: €35,610 - €57,847 Bar €63,389 - €83,504. Appointment on the relevant scale will be made commensurate with qualifications and experience.
