ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF ECONOMICS (BUSINESS / FINANCIAL ECONOMICS)

Since its founding in 1849, Economics has played a leading role in the development of University College, Cork.Today, the Department of Economics enjoys being one of the largest departments in the University through an established reputation for the innovation, academic standards and student-focus of its programmes of study and for active research programmes, including successful academic and practitioner oriented doctoral programmes.The academic management of the Department is organised around three strategic teaching and research groups: Business Economics, Financial Economics and Health Economics.All academic members participate in the delivery of general modules/programmes, as well as those in their area of speciality, and contribute in a cooperative environment to the leadership, management and administration of the Department through designated responsibilities.
University College, Cork is committed to establishing itself as a world class regional university with a diversified, international student community.The Department wishes to strengthen its strategic capabilities at the senior level to support the continuing development of its undergraduate, postgraduate and executive programmes and the internationalisation of its students.
The successful candidate for this fulltime permanent Associate Professorship will be appropriately qualified, suitable and experienced for academic leadership in Business Economics and/or Financial Economics and will be able to demonstrate extensive practitioner knowledge of the private business and financial sectors and interaction with the public-government sector, policies and practices and a research/publication orientation.The key result requirement attaching to this post during the first 5 years will be to position the Department at the forefront of executive-professional development programmes in Ireland with an international standing and initiate programmes internationally.
Salary scale [new entrants]: €99,287 – €116,607 per annum.
