Ireland could benefit from greenhouse gas finding

Professor Kiely, Head of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UCC and his team have found that Irish Grasslands capture atmospheric carbon. The research by the Hydrological Research Group (HYDROMET) which is ongoing for the past decade at several experimental field sites in Ireland is now backed up by similar studies in other EU countries. Currently Irish agriculture gains no financial benefit from this carbon sequestration. It is now time to lobby to realise these benefits to Irish agriculture.
