ICASE 2026: Global Gathering for Science and Technology Education at UCC
The use of artificial intelligence in the school classroom and international comparative studies and trends in science education were among the topics discussed at the 8th ICASE (International Council of Associations for Science and Technology Education) World Conference on Science and Technology Education which took place at University College Cork from 22-25 June.
The global event included over 300 policy makers, curriculum developers, scientists, university educators and researchers, and primary and secondary science teachers sharing research results and engage in discussions about the latest developments in science and technology education.
Established in 1973, the objectives of ICASE are to extend and enhance the work of its member organizations; provide and support activities and opportunities to enhance formal and non-formal science and technology education worldwide; establish and maintain an international communication network; and encourage and support the establishment and development of professional science and technology organizations, especially where none currently exists in a country.
Dr. Declan Kennedy, School of Education at UCC and ICASE President, said:
“It is a great honour for the School of Education, to host the 8th ICASE World Conference on Science and Technology Education. I hope that the coming days will provide opportunities for fruitful discussion, continuing professional development, new collaborations and lasting friendships as we explore together the challenges and opportunities facing Science and Technology education.”
