Tech Talk at the School of Computer Science and IT

The first Tech Talk of 2025 at the School of Computer Science and Information Technology was held on 28 January, attracting over 70 delegates, including researchers, industry leaders, and experts.
Attendees gathered to discuss the impact of emerging technologies such as AI & Ethics, Cybersecurity, Networks, Software, and Human-Computer Interaction.
Organised in partnership with the Tech Industry Alliance and the Cork Smart Gateway, the event featured engaging technical presentations and a panel discussion. These sessions highlighted how these technologies are transforming industries and society. Notable speakers from the School included Professors Dirk Pesch, Cormac Sreenan, and Ken Brown, as well as Drs. Laura Maye, Chrys Ngwa, and Ena Tobin - a graduate now with Elgin Energy.
A key takeaway was the emphasis on designing technology with ethics, accessibility, and human needs at its core. Beyond the technical discussions, the event underscored the importance of collaboration between research institutions and industry to drive innovation. Attendees left inspired to strengthen partnerships and advance responsible, impactful technology development.
