Agricultural Science Student Wins at Positive Farmers Dairy Conference

Joseph Bohane, a second-year Agricultural Science student at UCC, has been named the winner of the 2025 ‘Pathway to Progress’ student competition at the Positive Farmers Dairy Farming Conference.
The competition aims to promote the dairy industry as a rewarding career among young people, encouraging them to attend the conference, network, and learn from experienced farmers and key stakeholders in the dairy industry.
Joseph, a native of Kilderry, Skibbereen, received a first prize of €500 for his essay, ‘Creating a Sustainable Dairy Farming Career.’
The award was presented by Liam Hennessy from FDC Group, the competition sponsors, and Gillian O'Sullivan MVB, a dairy farmer and practicing vet representing the Positive Farmers Conference.
This is the second year in a row that a UCC Agricultural Science student has won this competition. Last year’s winner was Matt Walsh from Blarney.
