UCC Alumni Achievement Awards

UCC STEM graduates are among the nine alumni honoured at the 2024 UCC Alumni Achievement Awards.
The awards are made in recognition of their exceptional achievements since graduation. The awardees were:
- Dr Pamela Byrne (BSc 1994; PhD 2000), Chief Executive for the Food Safety Authority of Ireland
- Trinity College Dublin Provost Dr Linda Doyle (BE 1989)
- Michael Guinee (BE 1968), Founder and CEO of Ei Electronics
- Award-winning actress and presenter, Siobhán McSweeney (BSc 2001)
The other award recipients were:
- Sustainability and climate expert Ruairí O’Mahony (BA 2006; MPlan 2008)
- UCC Rugby Football Club volunteers Dr Len Harty (MB 1968) and Dr Noel O’Mahony (MB 1965)
- Dr Naomi Masheti (BA 2007; MA 2008; PhD 2015), Programme Director of the Cork Migrant Centre
- Businessman and strategic advisor to the university David Merriman (BA 1990; MBA 1993)
President of UCC, Professor John O’Halloran commended those who received awards; “I am delighted to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of our awardees. Each awardee brings immense pride to the university, embodying our values and demonstrating our global impact.”
