Congratulations to the School of Microbiology's first Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) ambassadors who will support the School's diverse community members: Dr Lekha Menon Margassery (International staff/student ambassador); Eimear Ni Mhaoldomhnaigh (LGBTQ+ and Neurodiversity ambassador) and Ms Michelle O’Leary (Staff/student liaison and support).

The School of Microbiology’s Athena SWAN committee expanded its remit in December 2021 to address the broader equality, diversity and inclusivity (EDI) needs of the School. The appointment of the ambassadors came as a result of focus group feedback following the School’s staff survey. This included a proposal that the School should have EDI ambassadors as points of contact to signpost to the supports and reporting structures within the School. The formation of the EDI committee generated significant interest and three staff members volunteered to become the School of Microbiology's first EDI ambassadors.
