Digital Inclusion Call
A fund of €25,000 is available to support initiatives in the area of Digital Inclusion. The Undergraduate Affairs Committee invites project proposals from staff to fund initiatives in the range of €1,000 - €5,000 that will support the widespread adoption and dissemination of best practice in the area of Inclusive learning i.e. making online lecture material accessible to students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

Background
A fund of €25,000 has been provided to SEFS from the Registrar’s Office to enhance the awareness and adoption of approaches that enhance the experience of students with specific disabilities and learning difficulties. This fund is being administered by SEFS Undergraduate Affairs and colleagues across SEFS are invited to submit project proposals that either:
- Increase awareness and promote easy adoption of lecturing material that is accessible to students with disabilities e.g. blindness, deafness, autistic spectrum disorder, dyslexia etc.
- Develop new technologies to enhance digital delivery of materials for such students.
- Inform colleagues of approaches to make their own lecture material accessible.
- Assess the needs of students in SEFS for accessible technologies and digital materials.
- Propose alternative strategies to increasing awareness and adoption of digitally inclusive teaching practices.
Projects may range in scale from €1,000 to €5,000 and in exceptional cases may amount to €10,000.
All funded applicants must be prepared to disseminate their work and findings by the middle of May 2022, so that colleagues may benefit from the learning acquired.
The funding can be used to pay for hourly occasional help to assist with project delivery, small items of equipment (audio/visual, specific software, etc.), conducting surveys, justifiable expenses etc.
Criteria
The evaluation criteria for funding will include:
- Potential impact.
- Dissemination plans.
- Potential for widespread application or adoption.
