UCC has been named as one of the world's top universities for the study of nursing and pharmacy

- UCC subjects ranked in world's top 50 and 100 in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024 published this week
- Nursing at UCC improved one place and now ranks an impressive 32nd in the world
- Pharmacy at UCC improved five places now ranks 94th in the top 100 in this year’s QS University Subject Rankings.
Professor Helen Whelton, Head of the College of Medicine and Health said: “We are delighted once again to see global recognition of UCC’s School of Nursing and Midwifery has attained a top 50 place in the World University Rankings for four consecutive years. Nursing is once again the highest ranked subject within UCC. Well done to staff and students, clinical partners and national and our international collaborators.
“We are delighted to see nursing at UCC moved up one place and now ranks an impressive 32nd in the world. Our School of Pharmacy also moved up five places in the top 100, our School of Medicine, Anatomy and Physiology in the top 250 showing our extraordinary strength in research, teaching, employability and internationalisation.
“These excellent ranking outcomes are a testament to the outstanding commitment, enthusiasm and cutting-edge achievements of our students, researchers and staff”.
UCC’s top performing specific subjects are Nursing (32), Law (73), Agriculture & Forestry (79), Pharmacy & Pharmacology (94), Performing Arts (51-100) all of which have been ranked in the top 50 and top 100 in the world. Anatomy and Physiology at UCC are ranked in the top 200 (101 – 150) and Medicine in the top 250.
The rankings are compiled using a combination of indicators relating to academic and employer reputation as well as research quality. At UCC, the highest score (relative to peer universities) for each of academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per paper and h-index indicators, belongs to Nursing.
The QS World University Subject Rankings analyses over 5,000 universities world-wide. The final published ranks include 1,559 institutions from across 149 countries standing as the largest and most diverse set of subject rankings to date.
