CoMH Research Conference Futures 2024

On Thursday 12th December, CoMH hosted our annual research conference in our Western Gateway Building.
Prof Ger O'Keeffe, Vice Head of Research & Innovation CoMH
"As the dust settles in the aftermath of UCC Medicine and Health Annual Research Conference - Futures 2024, I would like to thank the many people who were central to it.
Firstly thank you to the College team past and present but in particular Prof Helen Whelton, Dr Susan Rafferty-McArdle, Jill O’Callaghan, Caroline Seacy and Laoise Power for consistently going above and beyond, and without whom there would be no conference.
Thank you to our plenary speakers Prof Ken O'Halloran, Prof Geraldine (Gerry) Lee, Prof Ella Arensman and Prof Denis O'Mahony on their excellent talks which highlighted the importance of fundamental studies of the biology of human health and disease, through to approaches to improving population health.
Thank you to Dr Piotr Kowalski, Prof Yvonne Nolan, Prof John Browne, Prof Nicole Muller, Dr Nicola Cornally, Prof Finbarr Allen and members of the wider UCC Medicine and Health Research & Innovation Committee for chairing sessions and roles in the abstract review process.
Thank you to many (many!) people from across the Departments and Schools in the College, who are too numerous to mention, whose work allowed for a smooth conference and meant we could run a fully in person poster session at conference this year, and thank you to the many staff and students who presented at it.
Thank you to staff in UCCTV, General Services, UCC Hospitality and Western Gateway Building for their professionalism and support on the event.
Inevitably I have forgotten people so I hope a collective thank you will suffice."
CoMH Research Conference 2025
"Looking ahead, is perhaps captured well in the topic from one of our plenary speakers ….. Homeostasis is the tendency of a system to maintain relatively constant conditions while continuously adjusting to changes within or outside the system.
2025 will see us to navigate a changing research landscape and exploring the many possibilities as part of UCCFutures, while recognising and promoting the research excellence in our Departments, Schools, Research Centres and Clusters that is ultimately central to it all."
Congratulations to our prize winners!
