Looking forward to our 2025 Showcase on 6th June!
Join colleagues from CoMH as we showcase the excellent learning and teaching undertaken across our College, and find out more about 'Academics, AI, and Assessment: Who’s in Charge?'
We look forward to welcoming keynote speaker Dr Sarah Thelen, programme coordinator for UCC's Certificate in CPD in Digital Education.
As well as teaching on a variety of CIRTL and UCC programmes, Sarah's current research is in student engagement, staff-student interaction, making implicit knowledge/skills explicit, and delivery pathways for CPD.

| Academics, AI, and Assessment: Who’s in Charge? Faced with the growing popularity of GenAI, many academics have sought to redesign their assessments to be less vulnerable to student misuse of these tools - whether by making it less tempting to use them or by integrating them into their assessment. It's understandable, but at the same time, these changes often centre GenAI and risk sidelining disciplinary knowledge and, by extension, student learning. Arguing instead for values-driven assessment design, Sarah will explore some approaches to assessment with advice for designing assessment in the face of AI challenges. |
