Irish Research Council (IRC) Postgraduate Scholarship Competition 2015 Now Open

The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme offers scholarships for suitably qualified individuals to pursue a postgraduate degree in any discipline at an eligible HEI within Ireland. In addition, a number of targeted Scholarships are offered in collaboration with our strategic funding partners. Applicants may only apply for one Scholarship and should carefully consider which Scholarship to apply for. Full descriptions of each of the Strategic Funding Partner scholarships can be found in the Appendices of the Scheme Terms & Conditions. Description

Government of Ireland Scholarship

The Irish Research Council Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship supports suitably qualified Research Masters and Doctoral candidates pursuing or intending to pursue full-time research in any discipline. 

 

Strategic Funding Partner Scholarships offered in 2015:

Andrew Grene Postgraduate Scholarship in Conflict Resolution

The Conflict Resolution Unit of the Department of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the Council, will fund research to examine areas relevant to the work of the Conflict Resolution Unit, including women, peace and security; mediation; post-conflict resolution and conflict prevention.

National Forum Postgraduate Scholarship for Teaching & Learning in Higher Education

The National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, in partnership with the Council, will fund research in areas relevant to the work of the Forum, furthering its mission to examine how to enhance teaching and learning across the entire Higher Education sector.

Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) Education Postgraduate Scholarship

Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), in partnership with the Council, will fund research to further enhance Ireland’s science awareness/outreach activities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics well as enhancing the Irish public awareness of the sciences.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Science Policy & Innovation

**New scholarship to be offered in 2015**

Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), in partnership with the Council, will fund research with an emphasis on science policy and innovation, to include modelling economic impact; exploitation of Intellectual Property; research mobility; scientific methodology for identifying emerging areas of potential economic importance; and strategies for promoting innovation in multinational corporations.

Department of Children and Youth Affairs

**New scholarship to be offered in 2015**

The Department of Children and Youth Affairs, in partnership with the Council, will fund research that is based on analysis of the dataset from Phase 1 of Growing Up in Ireland and is directly related to one or more of the national outcomes for children and young people set out in Better Outcomes Brighter Futures: The National Policy Framework for Children and Young People (2014 – 2020).

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

**New scholarship to be offered in 2015**

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in partnership with the Council, will fund research under the EPA Research Programme (2014-2020) pillars of Climate, Water and Sustainability.
