History Seminar 12 January 2015

Professor Christophe Gillissen will deliver a paper: ‘France and the Irish application to the EEC: comments on the 1962 meeting between de Gaulle and Lemass’. The paper will examine the evidence for this important meeting, and consider its implications. The seminar will be held in the Seminar Room, Tyrconnell, at 12noon, on Monday 12th January. Tyronnell is located on Perrot Avenue, leading to Hayfield Manor.

Professor Christophe Gillissen will deliver a paper: ‘France and the Irish application to the EEC: comments on the 1962 meeting between de Gaulle and Lemass’. The paper will examine the evidence for this important meeting, and consider its implications.

Christophe Gillissen is Professor of Irish and British studies at the University of Caen. After a doctoral thesis on the impact of the European Community on Irish foreign policy, he published several articles on Irish foreign policy at the UN, Ireland’s bilateral relations with France, and Ireland’s European policy. He has been a member of the editorial board of Etudes Irlandaises and of the steering committee of EFACIS (European Federation of Associations and Centres of Irish Studies), and is currently a member of the board of the French Society for Irish Studies (Société françaises d’études irlandaises).

The seminar will be held in the Seminar Room, Tyrconnell, at 12noon, on Monday 12th January. Tyronnell is located on Perrot Avenue, leading to Hayfield Manor. The building is at the corner of the cul-de-sac immediately before the entrance to Hayfield Manor.
