FUAIM Concert: Claudia Schwab Quartet,18th February 1.10pm, Aula Maxima

UCC Music graduate, Claudia Schwab, presents a concert of genre-hopping, funk-beat yodeling, contemplative and life-affirming musical adventures rooted in Irish, Austrian and Indian music traditions.

Sligo-based Austrian violinist/singer/yodeller and composer Claudia Schwab has performed on numerous recordings and collaborated with a range of cross-genre artists, both established and emerging. She has published two CDs of original work – Amber Sands in 2014 and Attic Mornings in 2017. In 2019 she was commissioned to write for the NCH Sounding the Feminists Commissioning Scheme and was awarded a Next Generation Bursary Award from the Irish Arts Council. Further accolades include the Neuer Deutscher Jazzpreis 2019 with the Band “Shreefpunk + Strings,” followed by the Hubert Von Goisern Förderpreis in 2020.
Claudia will be joined on stage for this week’s concert by the extraordinary musicians, guitarist Niwel Tsumbu, percussionist Eamonn Cagney and Derek Whyte on bass.
