The year promises to be an active one for the regional construction sector, with strong demand reported for UCC Civil, Structural & Environmental Engineering graduates. Projects currently underway include the Capitol in Cork city, a mixed office and retail development on the site of the old Capitol Cinema, and the redevelopment of Pairc Ui Chaoimh stadium by the GAA.
Projects expected to commence in 2017 include the flood relief works for Cork city and Skibbereen, the N22 Cork-Tralee national road upgrade and an extension to the Bon Secours hospital on College Road in Cork city.
The total value of the projects is estimated to be €1.3 billion euro.
