Engineering Prizegiving 2025

The 2025 School of Engineering & Architecture Prizegiving showcased the breadth of talent among UCC’s engineering students. 

A number of awards were made possible thanks to generous sponsorship and philanthropic support, demonstrating the commitment of our industry partners and donors to nurturing student success in this field. We are grateful for their continued support. 

Awards Winners:

  • Qualcomm Most Promising Electrical/Electronic Engineer Award: William Hetherington   
  • Qualcomm Electrical and Electronic Engineering Excellence Award: Sean Coombes 
  • Engineering Postgraduate Research Publication of the Year - Tinghao Liu 
  • School of Engineering Research Image Award - First Prize Winner: Xue Ning. Runners up: Chao Wang and Luca Colavecchi. 
  • Best Poster Presentation: Winner - Nathan Barr 
  • The Dr Paul Cahill Memorial Prize: Gregory Paul 
  • The John Joseph McCarthy Prize in Civil & Environmental Engineering:  Michael Carroll 
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering Final Year Project: Ellen Maye 
  • Best ME Dissertation in the EE 5th year class: Orla Cowhig 
  • John Murphy Postgraduate Research Fellowship in Civil Engineering 24-25: Maria Sabedotti 
  • Prof. Gerard Wrixon Prize in Electrical & Electronic Engineering: Ethan Hussey 
  • Dr. Elmer Morrisey Memorial Scholarship ME student of CSE: Eabha Keely 
  • The Joe Gantly Prize: Winner - Eabha Keely. Runners Up: Eoghan Brennan, Jack O’Sullivan, Mary O’Sullivan 
  • Cork Electronics Industry Association Prize: Sean Coombes
