UCC Open Day 2022

UCC's annual Open Day for prospective students took place on 8 October - the first in-person Open Day since 2019. It was wonderful to see the university so vibrant with students and parents, with the sun shining and our beautiful campus looking its best.
The College of Science, Engineering and Food Science (SEFS) activities took place in the Western Gateway Building and Kane Building, with information stands, talks, lab tours and live demonstrations running throughout the day.
The event also included a Mock COP in the Aula Maxima to mark the importance of the COP27 in the global effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The session was facilitated by researchers from the Environmental Research Institute with participants experiencing the dynamics of negotiating an international agreement on climate change.
Thanks to all our staff and students from the College of SEFS who collaborated with colleagues from Student Recruitment to make the Open Day so successful. We hope that the hard work and preparation in advance of the event, and engagement on the day itself, will have inspired many students to study STEM at UCC!
