Department of Physics Transition Year Week

The Department of Physics were delighted to welcome transition year students back on campus once again for their annual Transition Year Week, which took place in February.
A total of 24 transition year students visited from Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and Kilkenny. The week is primarily run from the Eureka Labs in the Kane Building, with campus and lab tours as well as lectures taking place in other areas. This gives the visiting students an all-encompassing experience of studying Physics at UCC.
Some comments from participating students are below:
“Spending a week at the UCC Physics Department has greatly increased my confidence in pursuing the physics course at University College Cork”.
“I have learned that physics is fun and can be really useful to apply in real life scenarios”.
“After this week I’m certain I’d like to go into a career in STEM, more than likely in physics”.
“I used to think that studying physics was a long and tedious process but since spending the week, I think it's a very interesting and engaging journey”.
The Department is grateful to everyone that gave their time to make the week such a success. For updates on the Department of Physics outreach activities please visit:
