Cockles Project Meeting

Prof. Sarah Culloty and Dr. Sharon Lynch hosted a three day event recently (16th to 18th October) at the Beaufort-ERI and ERI Buildings (UCC) to facilitate interaction between stakeholders and the Cockles Project partners from five EU countries (Ireland, UK, France, Spain and Portugal).
Cockles provide meaningful environmental, societal, cultural, as well as economic benefits to coastal communities, but are threatened by disease and sub-optimal management. The Cockles Project is a three year project funded under the Atlantic Area Interreg Programme and it aims to restore production and the services provided by this emblematic resource.
