St Vincent’s National School Pupils at The Unveiling of Their First Ever Team Kit
Cork Camogie captain Amy O’Connor returned to her alma mater, St. Vincent’s National School, to unveil the school’s brand-new sports kit. This marks the first sports kit that the school has owned, and the initiative was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Access UCC. St. Vincent’s National School, which is linked to the Access service, expressed their gratitude to the sponsor and their excitement about participating in upcoming soccer, Sciath na Scól football, and camogie competitions.
Head of Access Olive Byrne expressed her delight at seeing the pupils donning the new kit, saying, “Access UCC is thrilled to support the renewed focus on sport in St. Vincent’s, and we are honored to have our logo on the school’s new kit. The logo symbolizes the open and welcoming door in UCC for all students.”
This year is a milestone for St. Vincent’s National School, as it marks the first time the school is able to participate in team sport competitions. The acquisition of the new sports kit holds significant meaning for the school and its students, as it represents a step forward in their sporting endeavors. During a full assembly, Principal Niamh O’Sullivan expressed gratitude to Access UCC for their support and highlighted the longstanding relationship between UCC and St. Vincent’s, emphasizing the available support for students who aspire to follow in Amy’s footsteps and pursue their studies at UCC.
Following the unveiling of the kit, Amy O’Connor took the opportunity to share some advice with the current pupils of St. Vincent’s. She encouraged them to embrace sports as a fantastic way to get involved and emphasized the importance of inclusivity, urging them to ensure that everyone is included when they play.
In a show of her commitment to the team, Amy stayed on the premises and led the students through a few training drills in the schoolyard. In preparation for their upcoming competitions, the team is planning a visit to UCC’s Mardyke complex for further training, where they will have the opportunity to refine their skills and enhance their teamwork.
The partnership between St. Vincent’s National School and Access UCC, made evident through the provision of the new sports kit, highlights the significance of community support and collaboration in fostering a vibrant and inclusive sporting culture.
