Dr Claire Murray

Biography

Dr Claire Murray is the Interim Director of the University Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Unit and a lecturer in the School of Law. She is a graduate of University College Cork (BCL, 2004; PhD, 2010; MA, 2013) and King's Inns (BL, 2008). She joined the Law School in 2010 having previously practiced as a barrister and worked as the principal legal researcher on the Law Reform Commission's project on Legal Aspects of Family Relationships. The values of equality, diversity and inclusion have been central to Claire’s work since joining UCC, with teaching and research focused on gender, social inclusion, and disability rights. Claire was also Chair of the School of Law EDI committee and prior to that a member of the team that successfully applied for an Athena SWAN Bronze award for the School. Claire's current research interests lie broadly in the areas of maternal and reproductive rights, and mental health and capacity law and she has been Principal Investigator on a number of funded research projects in this field (see further: https://research.ucc.ie/profiles/B012/cmurray).
